"The Quality of Your Education Program

Matters!"

Quality Schooling-2-U

2006 American Institute for Research (AIR) study determined, “More than 75% of students in 2 year colleges & 50% of those in 4 year colleges do not score at the proficient level of literacy."

2005 Center for Education Statistics assessment of  adult literacy determined,   "only 31%, (10% less than the 1992 study) of college graduates could read a complex book and extrapolate from it.”

"...the academic performance of a child educated by the parent exceeds that of a peer educated via public or private schools.

..to promote higher academic achievement, we pioneered

A Better Way of at-Home Educating.”

Schooling at Home.  Whether you teach one subject at home in order to augment your child's public or private education, or school your children in all subjects; schooling at home places additional demands on you and your family.  In addition to “teaching time”; time and study is demanded to research curricula; locate resources; design or modify lessons; and, for the parents who teach all subjects in the home , time is needed to learn and abide by state and federal homeschooling laws. Now, imagine having an assistant to do all the time consuming, home related schooling chores for you: research and locate education resources; design lesson plans to match your child’s learning styles; maintain your records of learning and accomplishments; draft filing letters and yearly reports; and, when needed schedule and administer achievement testing.  In addition, imagine also having ready access to experienced and knowledgeable home-educating experienced teachers and tutors to real time answer academic questions and provide guidance on effective teaching methods.  Well, imagine no more, ABW HomeEd does all that; and, much, much more.

The Confidence to Teach.  Reluctance regarding their own academic skills is the number one inhibitor for many parents who would like to teach their children at home.  Fearing their own academic weaknesses or lack of "teaching" knowledge will negatively impact the quality of their children's education, these parents dismiss schooling at home as a viable option.  Relinquishing the desire to, “One cannot teach, what one does not understand.”

ABW HomeEd eliminates this fear.  By partnering with the parent we ensure academic quality and learning success.  Partnering means for the duration of your student's education cycle the parent has assess to a highly qualified support team.  A support team composed of schooling-at-home experienced teachers in English, mathematics, science and social studies.  A support team to coach, mentor, clarify lessons, provide feedback on ideas, answer academic questions, and articulate effective teaching methods.  A support team which is readily available when needed, and fully committed to helping you and your child achieve academic excellence.

Meaningful Comparisons.  How “good” is your child’s public, private or homeschooling education?  If you are a homeschooler, any such evaluation is made anecdotally with or without various standardized annual tests.  If your children attend public or private school, you infer effectiveness from grades and maybe the school’s published reputation.  However, such comparisons are misleading.  Why?  Because haphazard comparisons tend to be against systems which in themselves are dysfunctional.  ABW HomeEd compares students’ academic achievement against systems known to be highly effective.  Using results from quality proven achievement tests, in mathematics and science we compare our students results against those received by the top two nations in the world; and, in English and social studies we compare against the top three schools in the nation.  This means, we are constantly bettering the quality and effectiveness of our academic services; and thus, your schooling program.

"A Better Way

of

Educating"

2001 Fraser Institute study: “Homeschooled children are on average, more academically and socially advanced than public and private schooled students.”…and also “more sociable” than their peers."

2003 Homeschool Research Institute study: "by a margin of 2.6 to 1, home-educated graduates are more involved in community, civic affairs and vote in much higher percentages than their peers."

"What motivates

parents To  teach their children?"

A combination of five different factors: (1) teach their beliefs and values; (2) social influences;

(3) physical and emotional safety; (4) closer family bonds; and (5) to obtain higher academic achievement.

"You set the goals, you determine the values; we act as your agent to achieve both."

What about Socialization?

As this question relates a popular opining against homeschooling, many are surprised to learn one of the primary reasons parents choose to homeschool is "socialization."  To clarify, the issue raised by this question pertains not to the social development of homeschooled children; rather it unveils the mistaken perspective that “socialization” only occurs within, and must occur in public or private schools.  The reality is:

1.       “Homeschooled children are on average, more academically and socially advanced than public and private schooled students.”…and also “more sociable” than their peers.  (2001 Fraser Institute study)

2.       Homeschooled children are involved in more out of the home weekly “socialization” activities than public or privately educated children.  (National Homeschool Research Institute study)

3.      By a margin of 2.6 to 1, home-educated graduates are more involved in community, civic affairs and vote in much higher percentages than their peers.  (2003 HSLDA sponsored study)

The studies reflect what is intuitively known by many parents, in addition to higher academic achievement; homeschooling also embeds a better "socialization" structure than either public or private schools.
